The painting is by Laurie Konyalian graciously gifted to me. The translation of William Wordworth poem, “Splendor in the Grass” is by Ara Mekhsian. The poem became popular for a generation because of the namesake  1961 film starring Warren Beatty and Natalie Wood. Vaհe H Apelian

Splendour in the Grass

by William Wordsworth

 

What though the radiance which was once so bright

Be now forever taken from my sight,

Though nothing can bring back the hour

Of splendour in the grass, of glory in the flower?

I We will grieve not, rather find

Strength in what remains behind

In the primal sympathy

Which, having been, must ever be.

In the soothing thoughts that spring

Out of human suffering,

In the faith that looks through death,

In years that bring the philosophic mind.

ՈՒԻԼԻԸՄ ՈՒՈՐՏՍՈՒՈՐԹ

 

Թէեւ պաղպաջը մերթ գեղաճաճանչ՝

Յաւերժ սրբուեր է աչքերէս հիմա,

Թէեւ երբեւէ ետ չի գար պահը

Մարգամիջի պերճանքին,

Ծաղկամիջեան շքեղանքին՝

Չենք ողբար, այլ կը գտնենք

Կորով մնացածին մէջ․

Վաղնջական կարեկցութեան մէջ,

Որ կայ եւ պէտք է յար մնայ․

Սփոփիչ խոհերու մէջ՝

Մարդու վիշտէն ընձիւղող․

Հաւատքին մէջ՝ մահը թափանցող,

Ուր տարիներ իմաստասէր միտք կ՚երկնեն․․․
