The Cover: Dawn of Armenian Pop Music

The text of Boghos Shahmelikian’s book – “Dawn of Armenian Pop Music” - is 207 pages long, excluding the index. Thanks to Boghos’ phenomenal memory, the book makes reference to many individuals, music bands that brought about the Diaspora Armenian popular music spring.  The index is 6 and a half bi columnar pages.  Each column has 30 entries. give and take a few listing. Consequently some 400 names, overwhelmingly of persons and music bands, have been mentioned in the 207 pages long text. (https://vhapelian.blogspot.com/2022/06/translating-boghos-book.html)

To dramatize the listing let me list the names of the musical bands under the alphabetical listing "T": The Babies, The Beat-Hovens, The Black Nights, The Born Losers, The College Boys, The Congueros, The Dark Eyes, The Devils, The Dreams, The Fellows, The Five Fingers, The Flames, The Fugitives, The Heliums, The Kings, The Kozaks, The Lords, The Magic Fingers, The Moonlights, The Motions, The Nobles, The News, The Nightingale, The Piece Blind, The Sea Ders, The Shadows, The Spiders,, The Storms, and more.

Boghos prepared the book cover consisting of the pictures of 37 individuals. He told me that he simply placed the pictures of those that were readily available for him. Much like the colorful cover, the book is rich in pictures that are printed in black and while in the book to save cost. Boghos has captioned them all. 

I thought its fair to list the names of the persons whose pictures appear on the front cover.  I asked Vahig Vartabedian, a musician himself, if he could list the names. Vahig was able to identify most of them, whose names I have listed below.

Hopefully readers may be able to identify the few Vahig Vartabedian could not.
