It is not worth it.

 Vahe H Apelian

LtoR; PM Nikol Pashinyan, President Erdogan, Mrs. Edogan, and Mrs. Pachinyan

The Armenian social media is inundated with disparaging if not derogatory remarks about the PM Nikol Pashinyan for having met with the president of Turkey, Erdogan.  These denigrating remarks have not even spared his wife Anna. Many of those are the one time “nationalists” and their affiliates who sang about the Khanasor expedition against a Kurdish tribe assuring that the Armenian fedayees will not mishandle the Kudish women (ձեռք տալու չէ). Apparently that chivalary stayed on the plains of Khanasor.

As long as I am conscious of my Armenian consciousness, I am reminded of the efforts ostensibly Armenians put forth to educate a cadre of diplomats in the Diaspora. Apparently, those who were educated as future diplomats have left the Armenian world to the whims of the Armenian “crowd mentality” – using the term Kristapor Mikaelian is known for – Ampokhayin Dramapanoutyoun.

Not knowing the Armenian language is not an excuse to ascribe where the Armenian social media crowd mentality comes from when not reading the rudimentary of the recent of Armenian history is the unexusable norm of the social media Armenian anti Turkish “nationalists”.

I have news for them. Over 100 years ago, the representatives of the First Republic of Armenia, had to meet and supplican the perpetrators of the Armenian genocide, Talaat and Enver, three years after the genocide to thank them to have let Armenians have an 11,000 square km, republic and beg them to help the Armenian republic survive. They did what they had to do.

1918 Armenian delegation to Turkey

Richard Hovannisian wrote. Reports from Aharonian, Khatisian and the mission secretary described humiliating meetings with Enver and Taleat. The supplicants were so humbled that they were forced to express gratitude to the Ottoman Empire for allowing the establishment of the Armenian Republic. During these discussions, Taleat blamed the Kurds, the military authorities and irresponsible local officials, but he also condemned the Armenians for disloyalty to the Ottoman homeland.

Folks, it’s not worth it. Have your children, nieces, nephews mind their own business.

But I have to admit, Armenian leadership can be lucrative too, maybe not only in Armenia but in Diaspora as well. Robert Kocharian and Serzh Sargsyan made it from rags to riches, enough for Robert to afford safari expedition for him and his sons and hunt wild beast in Tanzania with him understandably nailing down the king of the jungle, a lion.  Serzh too, although the expeditions of his entourage he led were and are elsewhere, His was to Baden-Baden, charting the state airplane for free, ostensibly to recuperate and not gamble..

At home, both lead the opposition and most of the social media nationalists, who claim to hold the mantle of what constitutes Armenian nationalism,  dutifully follow them in Armenia and in Diaspora.

If that is also not evident as things are in plain daylight.

Wow!

What else can I say?

They too had to do what they had to do.
